I just wanted you to know that if I could I would save every animal in the shelter; but of course we know that isn’t possible. But I do want to tell you about the one life that we
did save.
Her name at the shelter was Florida. It was October 10, 2008 when we walked into the shelter on SE Inner Loop. It was just 3 months after my cousin died and I really needed something
to pick me up. I already had 3 cats ranging from 5-9 years and I kept thinking it was time for a puppy. So it happens that after looking at all the puppies/dogs
2 x over, I went back to Florida and asked to hold her for a few minutes. She just captured me. I knew she was the puppy for me and I couldn’t leave without her.
We adopted her and decided to name her Kelly (after my deceased cousin), which has given me a way to keep her name alive. She has been such a wonderful addition to our family.
Here are a few pictures at 8 weeks when we got her and now at 6 months. What a blessing she has been. Thank you all for what you do!
We really need more shelters (preferably no-kill shelters) and people to adopt the animals.
