I fostered and then adopted "Downy", now Sweet Pea a year ago. She had been horribly neglected by her previous people, and WRAC (WCRAS) stepped in to give her a second chance. I saw from her picture that she probably had Demodex Mange and that her chances of adoption were slim. It broke my heart as it is a treatable disease that is not contagious to people or other animals. She came home with us the next day. I was very happy that the shelter was so willing to give this poor little dog a fighting chance to have a life.
Sweet Pea was only 2.2 pounds when I first brought her home, and is now a whopping 4 pounds! Her hair has grown back and "guess the mix breed" points to a Chihuahua/Yorkie mix. She is fearless and lets the other animals know that she is queen of the couch. Everyone that meets her comments on her lovely temperament. She is sweet to all people, and gets VIP (Very Important Pea) treatment at our vet clinic.
I have always considered myself a "big dog" person. I never knew a teeny tiny little dog could steal my heart, but she has. She is the bright spot in our lives and we cannot imagine life without her. Thanks to you, Ethel, and the other wonderful staff members at the WRAC (WCRAS).
