In addition to being responsible for her own pets at home, Rachel also has fostered pets from the shelter who needed special care. She has provided medical treatment to puppies who needed some extra help to get them into shape before they could be put up for adoption. She even took her latest foster puppy Harvey to FOX News Pet of the Week to show him off. Harvey was adopted a short time later. 

Rachel also helps out with special events like offsite adoptions and the 4th of July parade.

Monthly Volunteer Orientation for March 2008 -meeting date posted - Friday, February 08, 2008

The next volunteer orientation meeting will be Thursday  January 8th at 6PM in the shelter classroom.  The volunteer orientation meetings last about one hour and are usually held the first Thursday of the month every month.  You only need to attend one meeting to become a shelter volunteer! 

 

Please fill out a Volunteer Application Form (available in the Forms section on the Homepage) and bring it with you to the orientation meeting   See you there!

 

Volunteer Program at Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter

Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter needs volunteers every day to aid in the care and adoption of our animals.
These are some ways in which you could help as a shelter volunteer:

  • Walking and playing with dogs
  • Socializing Cats
  • Grooming/Bathing animals
  • Adoption counseling and screening, taking animals out of kennels for showings
  • Help with special events such as off site adoptions, shows or expositions
  • Answering phones at the front desk
  • Assisting the public with looking for their lost pet at the facility
  • Management of lost pet postings in the shelter and on the internet
  • Photographing animals at the shelter to post to our website
  • Basic housekeeping such as cleaning cages, doing laundry, washing pet dishes
  • Yard waste maintenance
 


HELP WANTED - VOLUNTEER POSITIONS - Thursday, June 26, 2008

Volunteer Coordinator
Recruit, train and schedule volunteers for the shelter.  Identify target groups and initiate recruitment activities.  Assist with monthly volunteer meetings.  Provide volunteer orientation assistance for new volunteers.  Schedule volunteer hours for volunteer work at the shelter as well as for special events in the community.

The time estimated for this position is 3-10 hours weekly.
